Chelsea winger, Willian Borges, has come out to dispel reports linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, stating that he never said he wanted to leave.

Reports over the past few weeks have claimed that Jose Mourinho was keen to sign Willian, who turns 30 this week, with Anthony Martial going in the opposite direction. Barcelona were also reportedly interested in the player.

Thankfully, Willian has today confirmed that no such deal will be taking place after he has committed his future to Chelsea.

“I’ve always made it very clear that I’ve always been very happy playing for Chelsea. I never said that I want to leave the club.

“This is a new era, with a new manager and I’ve had a good conversation with him. I hope we can enjoy a lot of victories.

“This is just the beginning. I’ve been only in three training sessions. We have a new season with a new philosophy, everything is new for everyone. But this team has everything to improve in all aspects.”

Though Willian only arrived back at Chelsea on Thursday, almost five days after he was supposed to join the team following the World Cup, he came on as a substitute as the Blues lost 2 – 0 to Manchester in Sunday’s Community Shield.

Willian looked a long shot from being fit while he also looked out of tune with the new strategy Maurizio Sarri is introducing to the team.
