Umuahia — IN line with the Federal Government’s attention to rural development, 17 states selected from across the nation have been selected by the World Bank to benefit from its $500 million for rural development under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, RAAMP, programme.
Abia State would benefit to the tune of $25 million from the $500 million. Among other benefiting states that would participate in the programme include Anambra, Akwa Ibom and Cross River.
Speaking in Umuahia during a one day workshop for Abia rural communities that would benefit from the Resettlement Policy Framework, which the programme aims to achieve, the Abia state Project Coordinator for RAAMP Dr. John Chibunna commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for ensuring that Abia was one of the beneficiaries.
He said the Governor’s commitment in the programme through his political will that ensured that ensured that the state was part of the laudable projects showed his interest towards ensuring opening up the rural areas of the state.
