*pledges to empower women, youths and children

The new Bishop of Lagos, Rt. Reverend Humphrey Olumakaiye has urged Nigerian leaders to give chance for young people in the political affairs of the country, saying they are energetic and have the capability to move the country forward.

Olumakaiye who made this call recently in Lagos during his enthronement as the new Bishop of Lagos, explained that some Nigerian leaders have gone out of fashion and cannot, therefore, design the architectural layout  that would bring about positive development in the country.

“Our political leaders should try as much as possible to give the younger generation a chance. Let them also use their talents for the development of this nation. Some of our leaders are already out of fashion, so, we need fresh blood.

“We need fresh brains, we need people that can think within the contemporary world and that is the only way forward.

“Enough of recycling of old people in the political sphere, it will not propel the country to greatness. We should believe in the younger generation; they can deliver and I have faith in them and I know they will deliver.

“My message to Nigerian leaders is to lead this country on the path of righteousness. We should shun greed,” he said.

Meanwhile, wife of the Bishop, Prof. Motunrayo Olumakaiye has promised to use her office to empower women, youths and children.

“We are going to build on the good work of the past Bishop’s wife. We are going to empower more women and build them to be relevant in life.

“We have plans for the youths and girls who are the mothers of tomorrow. We have programme for the spinsters, young wives and the aged women.

“I believe the Anglican women  will be supportive and with the spirit of oneness, everything will be better,” she hoped.
