CHAIRMAN of Congress of Northern Nigeria Christians (CNNC), David Kadzia, has been given a 48 hours ultimatum to as a matter of urgency come out with evidence of alleged N2.8 billion levelled against the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle.
The ultimatum was given by the Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) in the 19 Northern States of the country and Abuja, Evangelist Musa Misal, as the position of the Association during an interview with newsmen in Gombe just as he also said that the allegation of the sum of N1.8 billion for the purchase of vehicles as made by David Kadzai must be substantiated as well.
Evangelist Musa Misal who described David Kadzia’s statement published in the Guardian Newspaper of Monday, November 12, 2018, against the 19 Northern states CAN Chairmen as untrue said that “no Northern Chairman held any closed or opened door meeting with Kadzia.”
He described the purported 8 hours closed doors meeting with 19 Northern CAN Chairmen on the allegation of fraud and a secret romance with the leadership of APC as a figment of imagination which could be destructive to CAN as a body.
According to Evangelist Musa Misal, the statement made by David Kadzai in that newspaper publication was false and a fabrication of lies adding, “We challenge Kadzai to mention who was in that meeting with him, and the venue in Yola. All officials of CNNC called denied knowledge of this damaging utterance.”
“We therefore want to state categorically that the northern CAN, comprising of the 19 states and Abuja, hereby give David Kadzai an ultimatum of 48 hours to retract his article of 12th November in the Guardian Newspaper or substantiate every bit of his claims of fraud against CAN’s national President or be ready to face security agencies and legal consequences over the allegations that has caused embarrassment to CAN leadership,” he added.
He, however, explained that the unsubstantiated allegation by day Kadzia was an embarrassment not only to CAN as an Association but to the entire Christian community in Nigeria.
He said that: “N2.8 billion naira is not N2.8 million. It is such a huge sum and we don’t know where and how David Kadzia got this weighty allegation even when efforts are being made to reconcile the power tussle between CAN National President and his Vice, Professor Joseph Otubu.”
He further said that there was also no evidence of the CAN President having a political romance with the ruling All Progressive Party (APC) through the Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, knowing fully well that CAN is apolitical in its affairs. “CAN is an organized body and headed by respected father of faith and integrity. We have confidence in our leaders,” he stressed.
It will be recalled that a reconciliation committee headed by Apostle Professor Alexander Bamgbola and its Secretary, Barrister Comfort Otera Chigbue had recently discovered that the allegations of the Vice President of CAN against the CAN President were frivolous, unsubstantiated and therefore called on the Vice President to make an open apology or face appropriate discipline by NEC if he fails to do so.
