Worried by the scarcity of lower currency denominations in circulation, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN, yesterday, commenced direct disbursement of the affected notes to traders.
Flagging off the process at Wuse Market in Abuja, yesterday, the Director of Currency Operations of the CBN, Mrs. Priscilla Eleje, said that N50, N20, N10 and N5 notes would be channeled to traders through their associations in markets across the nation.
According to her, “the CBN will intervene on a weekly basis in the immediate and later respond based on demand.”
