No fewer than ten persons died while 10 others sustained various degrees of injuries in road accident in Konar Nomi, on the Hadejia-Kano road in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The accident, which occurred at around 12:30 yesterday, involved a white Toyota Hilux with registration number, XY 749 AGL and a red Volkswagen Sharon bus with registration number, GW 252XA.

The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Abdul Jinjiri, confirmed the incident saying, among the dead, there were two children, one female and seven males.

He said the cause of the accident was not yet ascertained but investigation to that effect was on going.

Daily Trust gathered that the victims, who reportedly died on the spot, were all travelling in the bus while the injured ones were taken to General Hospital Ringim for medical attention.

The remains of the deceased were deposited in the mortuary of the hospital pending the arrival of their relations.

A witness blamed the accident on over-speeding while it was drizzling, saying the bus rammed into the Hilux Van belonging to Wazobia Globe Broadcasting and Communication FM station from the rear.
