IBADAN—AHEAD of the 2019 general elections, the National Chairman of the National Action Council, NAC, Dr. Olapade Agoro, yesterday, asked a Federal High Court to order the Independent National Electoral Commission, INCE, to de-register all political parties whose members admitted they collected N100m from the previous administration.

Agoro  filed the case against four major political parties in Nigeria praying the court to admit all the confessions they made earlier that they collected the money before the 2015 general elections.

The political parties he wants  deregistered  include the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Social Democratic Party, SDP.

He said this while speaking with newsmen in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Two other parties, he vowed, would be added to the list of alleged corrupt political parties are Accord Party and the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Dr. Agoro further stated that unless the issue of corruption is dealt with decisively, the future of Nigerian youth and the country is bleak.

In a suit marked FHC/ABJ/OS/782/17, Dr. Agoro urged the court to declare if it is lawful for INEC to look the other way while the political parties “hold sway by allegedly abusing the electoral process with unknown sources of fund.”

He is also praying the Federal High Court in Abuja to declare if it is legal or not for INEC to keep the names of the political parties on its register.

He wants the court to determine if it is right for the 1st defendant, INEC to allow the “2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants to use funds with no traceable sources to induce and corrupt particularly INEC officials to pervert electoral process.”

He also faulted the Muhammadu Buhari led-government for not showing enough will to fight corruption.
