A special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja has fixed June 21,2018 to rule on no case submission filed by former Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Clement Iloh in an ongoing trial of alleged N14million fraud.

Iloh was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) for stealing N14 million meant for the defunct Federal Government’s Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P). He pleaded not guilty to all the charges before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo. The prosecution had called four witnesses to testify at the trial. However, when the matter was called yesterday for adoption of final written address, defendant counsel, Victor Chinedu told court that he had filed an application of no case submission, asking court to discharge the permanent secretary.

He submitted that the prosecution has not proved its case against his client or made out prima facia case against him capable of being the reason to call on the defendant to enter his defence. Responding, EFCC counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo told the court that the agency has filed a reply to his application on point of law to counter the defence claims. He cited cases to buttress his argument.

After listened to the submissions of parties, the trial judge subsequently adjourned till June 21,2018 for ruling.
