AS President Muhammadu Buhari schedules to visit Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, on January 30 in continuation of his campaign rally, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonaya Onu  has called on Ndigbo to support the re-election bid of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, saying it would enable him to complete the on-going federal projects in the Southeast geopolitical zone as well as other parts of the country.

Dr Onu, a former governor of the old Abia State and strong ally of President Buhari, made the call at the weekend when the leadership of the True Nigerians For Buhari group led by its national Coordinator, Nicholas Ajayi, paid him a courtesy visit at his country home, Uburu, Ebonyi State.

The Minister told the visitors, “I am happy that there is an organisation like yours working towards the realisation of President Buhari re-election. We will give you every support so that you succeed because your goal and mission are the same as us.

His words: “Buhari took over when our economy depended almost on crude oil and natural gas. The president came when the price of crude oil was low and the production of crude oil was low to the extent of having half a million barrel per day.

“To this end, the country needed a pragmatic leader and I am happy that Mr President is doing his best as with very little he achieved so much. It takes more time to build than to destroy. The problems he inherited are enormous and it will take time for the president to rebuild those things destroyed by the past administration.

“Ndigbo and indeed all Nigerians should support him to come back so that he could complete the things he is doing, create enough jobs for the people.

“President Buhari is visiting Ebonyi State on January 30, this year. The president had visited the state before and as such, it is like a homecoming to the president. Therefore, I am appealing to the people of Ebonyi to come out en-mass and welcome our great president. There is a need to vote him back because he has a special interest in the state. For example, the President has approved the revitalisation of PH/Abakaliki Railways line.

“Buhari government is a government of integrity. The problem in this country is between the supper rich and the poor. Anybody after Buhari is not after his money but after his value. The government came with alot goodies but incapacitated by the down turn economy. Resilience is helping Buhari to succeed.”

Earlier, the leader of the pro-Buhari organisation, Ajayi, told the Minister that they were in Uburu to thank him for the marvelous work he has been doing to make sure President Buhari is re-elected, urging him to move ahead.

Ajayi said: “We watched you when the President came to Anambra and Enugu States and we have seen that you are a true Nigerian working assiduously to make sure our President is returned to Aso-Rock. We have come to give respect to whom respect is due. We appeal to you not to relent in your efforts towards the re-election bid of Mr. President who is a man of integrity.”
