President Muhamadu Buhari has been charged not to take the mandate given to him by Nigerians who reelected him for granted following his victory in the just concluded Presidential election just as he was reminded that God gave him the victory to allow him right all the wrongs he might have committed in the last four years in office.

The charge was given by the  Catholic Bishop of Bauchi Diocese, Most Reverend Dr Hillary Nanman Dachelem, while speaking with Journalists in Bauchi on the sideline of Ash Wednesday which commenced the 40 days lenting period for Christians particularly the Catholics all over the world,
Bishop Nanman Dachelem said, “for the President God has given us, we have to take him with gratitude to God. We should just cooperate with him and move on because he is not going to be there forever. On his part, in spite of his shortcomings too, God has brought him back to probably correct some of the errors he might have made in his first tenure. He should thank God for his victory but he should not take it for granted”.
On the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections, the Catholic Bishop expressed gratitude to God for what he observed was the generally peaceful conduct of the exercise in spite of pockets of violence across the country during the conduct of the exercise.
As Nigerians goes out to vote this Saturday in the Governorship and State Assembly elections, the Cleric advised politicians against engaging in the politics of do or die just as he expressed concern on fears of impending violence across the country, especially in Bauchi State during the exercise.
He said: “This politics of do or die will not help us. We know that there are two major contenders in the governorship race in the state but eventually, God will give us one. Let us be willing to be contented and INEC that we believe is supposed to be the true referee should be honest and transparent and be careful in it’s conduct at this point”.
The Catholic Bishop then used the occasion of Ash Wednesday to urge Christian faithful to fast and pray for the peace, unity and stability of the country during the Lent urging them to abstain from anything that will not make their worship during the period acceptable to God.
He also called for religious harmony among the adherents of the two religions in the country because according to him every area of misunderstanding should be avoided and appreciated.
