A former deputy governor of Ekiti State, Chief Abiodun Aluko, has emerged as the candidate of Accord for the July 14th election in the state.
Chief Aluko had looked set to be elected as the candidate of Mega Party of Nigeria recently until he was surprisingly defeated by Dr Sunday Balogun in the primary election of the party recently.
After being upstaged by the Mega Party, Chief Aluko decided to quit the party and he was welcomed by Accord, and soon after got the nod of the party to fly its flag.
In a statement by the Abiodun Aluko Campaign Organisation, in which he announced his resignation from the party, Chief Aluko hinted that his loss of the party’s ticket was a result of alleged attempts by some unnamed people to deny his a platform to contest the election, which he said he was sure to win.
Aluko said: “Many attempts have been made unethically by the enemies of our dear state to crumb the great vision that I had long ago by unpatriotically denying me a platform to showcase my interest to offer the best service to this state. But God in his majesty has put them behind us and they have been put into shame.”
He charged his supporters to remain calm and be law abiding, saying “our victory is certain as elected governor by July 14, 2018.”
He said with his new platform, soon his supporters and the people of the state would “recover our political territories that have been occupied by scavengers.”

Chief Aluko said he was prepared to lead Ekiti, saying “I want the best for Ekiti and I am optimistic of offering the best platform for Ekiti to be relieved of their current economic hardship and political bondage.
“I have prepared to lead Ekiti State beyond its present status and give priority to the people’s aspirations and yearnings at a given period of time.”
Chief Aluko was among the first people to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing his inability to work with the current leadership of the party in the state, and that he could not achieve his political ambition in the party.
He joined Mega Party from where he has finally settled for Accord, where he has charged his supporters to keep hope alive.
