OVER six million naira indemnity has been paid to FADAMA farmers in Ogbaru local government area of Anambra state by Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Company, NAIC.

The farmers who lost their crops to last year’s flood are benefiting from the scheme because they complied with due process and meet the requirements for insurance of their farms.

In a brief ceremony at the State Coordination office of FADAMA 111 Additional Financing in Awka yesterday, the Head, Nigeria Agricultural Insurance Company, NAIC, Anambra State, Mr Oseloka Uzoma said out of eighteen groups in FADAMA Three Additional Financing, only sixteen groups insured their farms.

While calling for more people to follow suit and have a backup in case of any natural disaster, Mr Uzoma expressed dissatisfaction that in the state only about a thousand people have insurance coverage.

Also speaking, the State Project Coordinator, FADAMA Three Additional Financing, Mr Chuka Egbueh called on farmers to reciprocate Governor Obiano’s gesture in the Agric sector by Insuring their farms to avoid losing all they laboured for.

Mr Egbue, represented by the Communication Officer, FADAMA Three Additional Financing, Mr Nezianya Obinabo thanked NAIC for making their dreams come true.
