Nigerian Celebrities Who Started Out As Child Stars And Are Still Famous Today

The best thing that can ever happen to any celebrity is having the opportunity to recognize their talent early and actually make big use of it.

Over the years we have had a number of celebrities who started off as child stars and we all were amazed at their talents at an early age.

For some of these celebrities, success didn’t just come easy. They never slowed down but continued to work hard, before excelling to become the grown-up celebrities we all know today.

Here are celebrities who started off as child stars and have remained relevant in the entertainment industry.

1.Denrele Edun:

Denrele Edun actually started off as a child star in the 90s in the then-popular NTA children’s programme ‘Kiddies Vision 101.’ He was one of the child actors from that program.

He didn’t stop there, going on to star in the popular campus drama in the early 2000s ‘Twilight Zone’  Today Denrele has host uncountable numbers of shows on different TV networks. He is seen as one of the most influential celebrities in the country at the moment.

2.Sharon Ezeamaka:

We watched Sharon Ezeamaka rise to stardom from a very little age as little as 5 years old. She was noticeable because of her talent and also the chubby baby look which she has. We can’t forget her role in the now rested drama series ‘Dear Mother’ where she played the very inquisitive daughter for years.

On the flip side, Sharon is also a very talented designer as well as a talented singer and currently performs on Thursday and Friday nights weekly at Bogobiri House, Ikoyi with the house band.

Sharon also starred in a Bournvita ad as a child and recently she has featured on films such as the popular MTV series ‘Shuga’, ‘Burning Desire’, ‘Broken Marriage’ and many more.

3.Olumide Owuru:

Olumide Owuru is the newest member of this category of celebrities who broke into fame in childhood. Not much is known about Olumide until we saw him the comedy series ‘The Johnsons’ where he played the role of ‘Tari’ the son of Mr Johnson.

Olumide has shown the world his talent and since then has become a regular celebrity face in movie roles. He has become more famous after playing the role of a teenager born with HIV in the popular MTV series “Shuga”.

4.Benita Okojie:

For the  1990s kids, you can’t forget how one little girl, Benita Okojie shocked the nation with her amazing voice when she dropped the famous song’ Osemudiamen.’ We were all in awe by the talent a child at that age possessed.

Benita took a break from the music and to finish her university education. Even though she still sings, we haven’t forgotten Benita from the 90s. She’s now married with a child.

5.William Uchemba:

William Uchemba is probably the most popular child star to have come out of Nollywood in the 90s. He was the child star everyone wanted to see and have in their movies. Williams Uchemba acting prowess was undeniable, he could make a sad scene from a movie that would actually make you cry.

Not much was heard from him as he went missing in action for a couple of years but two years ago he became relevant again on social media. He is currently the African Youth Rep to the United Nations(UN) or what we all understand as Ambassador which takes him in and out of the country. Even though he hasn’t been seen in movies lately, he’s been able to win the hearts of many fans with his funny skits on Instagram and also his charitable works.
