President Muhammadu Buhari, was yet to congratulate the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, on his birthday, as at the time of filing in this report.

Atiku Abubakar had marked his 72 years birthday, on Sunday, November 25, 2018.

A check by Post-Nigeria revealed that barely 24-hours, the Presidency was yet to issue a statement to congratulate Atiku, unlike his previous birthday, when he was still a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

President Buhari’s action may be connected to Atiku’s defection to the opposition PDP, and the emergence of the former Vice President to challenge and contest against him, in 2019.

Post-Nigeria could recall, that President Buhari had in 2016, congratulated Atiku, who then clocked 70 years old, and was still a member of the APC.

Buhari had said that he was delighted to welcome Atiku to the ‘septuagenarians’ club.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President conveyed his best wishes to Atiku in a congratulatory letter he personally signed.

While welcoming the former Vice President “to the 70s club”, Buhari prayed that Allah would grant him many more years of good health and service to Nigeria.

“Over the years, I have admired your courage and doggedness in defending your interests, and your generosity in promoting education. The American University, in Yola, is one of your noble legacies, and my hope and wish is that it will endure”, Buhari reportedly wrote.

Meanwhile, the PDP had on Sunday, wished Atiku Abuakar God’s guidance and blessings, as he prepares to pilot the affairs of the country.

The party in its Twitter handle said: “Happy Birthday Your Excellency @Atiku. We wish you more of Allah’s guidance and blessings, as you prepare to pilot the affairs of our country.”
