Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos state governor, Mr. Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye has revealed that plans are in top gear for the Teslim Balogun Stadium to host the Super Eagles AFCON 2019 qualifying clash against Seychelles in March.
Speaking during a chat recently, Adeboye who doubles as the president Smart FC of Lagos, said the ongoing renovation work at the stadium is near completion and should be ready to host the tie.
His words: “The dream of His Excellency, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode is to ensure that Super Eagles are back in Lagos and with the level of work on site we believe it will be achieved.
“You will also agree with me that Lagos is the home of the senior national team, so we are working round the clock to get the stadium ready before March.”
The seasoned sports administrator added that contractors have began to re-grass the stadium pitch after pulling off the artificial turf.
“For us, the Teslim Balogun Stadium or the National Stadium, Surulere are the fortresses of the senior national and can only be compared to famous Wembley Stadium in England. We know the Lagos fans would be delighted about this.”
Super Eagles is billed to host the Pirates of Seychelles in the final group game on March 22, 2019.
