Nigerians have said that Abayomi Shogunle, the Head of Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit, is trying to justify police brutality by posting a video of a Ghanaian policeman beating a nursing mother in a banking hall.

Shogunle, in his tweet, called out those criticising Special Anti Robbery Squad, saying “people can see real police brutality.”

The viral video had circulated all day on Friday showing a Ghanaian policeman battering a nursing mother in a banking hall.

Most people have condemned the action of the police officer.

Mr. Shogunle, who is an Assistant Commissioner of Police, tweeted the video and captioned it; “WE (@PoliceNG) WILL NEVER DO THIS IN NIGERIA! A Ghanaian policeman beating a nursing mother in Rambo-style inside a banking hall in Accra today. Hope #EndSARS people can see the real police brutality.”

Nigerians on Twitter have been reacting to Shogunle’s statement, which they interpreted as a justification for police brutality.
