A new commissioner of police has once again been posted to Akwa Ibom State. He is Zaki Ahmed.

He is the 27th commissioner of police in the state, ten of which have been deployed and redeployed in quick succession in the last two years.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the police command in the state, Mr Odiko MacDon, said the Ag. IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu gave the approval for the posting of a new CP to the command. He now takes over from CP Bashir Makama, now redeployed to Ogun State.

“The police boss for the state holds a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Sociology from the Usman-Danfodio University, Sokoto, and a Masters degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice (MLC) from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

“The commissioner of police was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet assistant superintendent of police in 1988. He has served the force in various capacities.

“Before his present appointment, he was Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, Rivers State Police Command; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Delta State Police Command; Commandant, Police Detective College, Enugu; and Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Police Command.

“Before his present appointment, he was the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command. He has assumed duty as the 27th commissioner of police, Akwa Ibom State.”

The statement said the new police boss “who is a team player, promised the good people of Akwa Ibom State of an all-inclusive and open-minded tenure while enjoining them to remain law-abiding and accord him the needed co-operation to fight crime in the state to a standstill.”
